SHOCKWAVE was designed by Nigel Irens/Benoit Cabaret and built by Marsaudon Composites in Lorient, France. Launched as “Paradox” in 2010, the overall design brief was derived from the ORMA 60 ocean-racing trimarans, with safer and more reliable modifications for sailing short-handed and at speed.

Her hull is built from resin-infused carbon and foam laid up in female molds originally built for the legendary ORMA 60’s Fujifilm and Banque Populaire.  SHOCKWAVE has a significantly shorter rig than her ORMA cousins (18ft shorter), a beam of 48 feet (12 ft narrower), and approximately 2 tons of extra weight due to her full interior (including air conditioning!).

SHOCKWAVE’s heavier displacement provides equivalent righting moment which offers stability and the ability to generate tremendous power, capable of sailing 30+ knots.

Team SHOCKWAVE is looking forward to debuting a new program, sponsors and team vision. The regatta schedule for 2020 includes regattas and ocean races spanning the Caribbean, North Atlantic and Mediterranean.
